CORNWALL, Ontario – Comedians and partners Julien Dionne and Jen Grant are hoping to give their audience a good laugh on Valentine’s Day as a part of Cornwall Comedy Festival.

“(I think) a lot of couples will be in the crowd that night,” said Shawn Fowler, event organizer and founder. “A lot of people are going to do this as something special on Valentine’s Day. I mean, a couple that laughs together loves together, right?”

Tickets to the stand-up performance, A Couple Walks Into A Bar, are selling fast. The show is set to begin at 8 p.m. at Nav Centre.

“I’m over the moon with the sales with this…everything seems to have aligned with this one,” said Fowler.
The show is set to start with Dionne opening with a welcoming, laid back set, followed by Grant, who is originally of Cornwall.

“I’m lucky to have them here,” said Fowler, commending the couple. “It’s about the talent.”

Fowler’s goal with Cornwall Comedy Festival has always been to bring big name acts to our small city. He is proud of how he always strives to put on a good show and greatly accommodates the talent he has recruited, something he learned from his mother. Fowler also joked that many people ask him why he doesn’t try stand up himself.

“It’s a whole different ball game when you get up on stage,” he said. “I’d rather concentrate on putting on a good show.”

Tickets can be purchased at Cornwall Civic Complex Box Office or cornwallcomedyfestival.ca.
