CORNWALL, Ontario – The Alexandria-Cornwall diocese Catholic Women’s League held their second annual For the Love of Chocolate event at the Cornwall Legion on Friday night, Feb. 8.

The event had a silent auction with over 70 items, door prizes, a 50/50 draw and entertainment from the ladies of the Catholic Women’s League who sang songs from the movie Sister Act.

Along with all of this of course, there was also chocolate. Some of the chocolate that was available to guests of the event were chocolate covered strawberries dipped in brown and white chocolate which were made by members of the Catholic Women’s League.

“This was an original idea that was never done before here,” said Linda Rines of the Catholic Women’s League.

The event raised $3,000 in it’s first year for the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), this year, the funds will go to the costs of the Catholic Women’s League Provincial Conference which will be held in Cornwall in 2022.

“The Catholic Women’s League is like a family,” said Lynn Pomainville.

Frances O’Dair encouraged more local women to join the Alexandria-Cornwall Catholic Women’s League.
