CORNWALL, Ontario – More than 500 cheerleaders and 50 teams came to the Cornwall Civic Complex on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2019 for the Winter Blast cheerleading competition.

This was the second year that the event was hosted in Cornwall and teams came from across Ontario and Quebec.

“We were really pleased with the venue and the community support in Cornwall last year,” said Tara Savoie, Ontario Cheerleading Federation President. “The Civic Complex is a great facility for this type of event and the location is convenient for many of our competitors.”

The higher level teams, those competing at Level 5 or above, had the chance to qualify for the world championships which will be held in Orlando, FL, later this year.

“The success of Winter Blast is another example of just how versatile the Civic Complex is for special events. It also builds on Cornwall’s growing status as a premier location for hosting sporting events and conferences,” said Janice Robinson, Facility Rental Coordinator.
