Delays and cancellations in Cornwall

CORNWALL, Ontario – Local services and organizations have announced cancellations throughout Cornwall and the surrounding area due to incoming severe weather on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2019.

All City of Cornwall buildings will be closed as of 3 p.m. Exceptions to this are the Aquatic Centre which will stay open until 3:3o p.m. for a leisure swim and the Benson Centre will will close after Social Duplicate Bridge is complete.

The Cornwall Public Library will close early at 4:30 p.m.

The SD&G County Library has decided to close all branches at 3 p.m.

The Boys and Girls Club of Cornwall closed at around noon.

The Agape Centre announced that all services, including the food bank and kitchen will be closed on Wednesday, Feb. 13.

The United Way of SD&G closed their offices at 1 p.m.

Dairy Queen on the corner of Pitt & Sydney streets announced that it too will be closing at 4 p.m. on Feb. 12 out of concern for the safety of their employees.

The City of Cornwall asked residents to observe overnight parking restrictions as Municipal Works crews dig out and asked residents to be patient as primary arteries are cleared first. A map of snow routes can be found here.

The City also has asked residents for help in clearing out some of the 1,200 fire hydrants located around Cornwall.

The City of Cornwall, Cornwall Public Library, SD&G Library and other organizations have stated that they will notify the public early Wednesday morning if there are any other ongoing delays, closures or cancellations.
