CORNWALL, Ontario – About 80 attendees were hoping luck was on their side during the first ever Casino Evening with Habitat for Humanity.

“This is our premiere event,” explained Breckyn Fowler, Resource and Volunteer Coordinator with Habitat for Humanity of Cornwall & the Counties. “We are thrilled with the success. This is huge for us and we are already looking forward to next year.”

Tickets to the event cost $50 and entitled guests to $100 worth of casino play, dinner, candy bar and photo booth access.

“This way, everyone gets a really exclusive experience,” said Fowler, who was flattered by all the positive feedback throughout the evening and is already looking forward to next year’s event.

Fowler explained that funds raised from the event will go towards house build projects for three families in Cornwall over the next two years. The Lauzon family, who’s home project will begin in spring of 2019, was in attendance assisting with the event.

The evening event was inspired by a casino themed fundraising meal Habitat held during the summer at Au Vieux Duluth. A total of eight prized could be won throughout the night including a $500 Via Rail voucher, handyman service, a date night package and more.

“People were loving it so we…just kind of decided to run with it as an entire night,” said Fowler.

Fowler thanked all of the generous event sponsors who made the evening of fun and fundraising possible.
