OTTAWA, Ontario – The Ottawa Senators announced on Friday, March 1 that Head Coach Guy Boucher had been relieved of his duties and that effective immediately, Marc Crawford has been named as his interim replacement.

“I want to thank Guy for his three years of service. He is a good person and has been an excellent representative of the Senators. At this point, however, we need a different set of coaching and leadership skills to guide our team through this rebuild,” said general manager Pierre Dorion. “In the interim, Marc will bring a different perspective along with a wealth of head coaching experience.”

Crawford, 58, played three seasons with the Cornwall Royals during which time the team won back-to-back Memorial Cups. Crawford was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in 1980.

He coached the Colorado Avalanche to a Stanley Cup victory in 1996.

The Senators state that going forward they will be evaluating their current coaching staff while also looking for a new permanent replacement for Boucher.

Crawford currently resides in Cornwall with his wife.
