CORNWALL, Ontario – The 13th annual Kinsmen Pizza Party saw a full, hungry crowd on Friday, March 29 at the Best Western Parkway Inn.

Slices of all dressed pizza from eight different businesses were served to attendees throughout the evening, and each guest received a score sheet to judge their personal favourites. Dessert pizzas were also served to top off the evening.

“The reason everybody has their own score sheet is so they can pick their own personal winner, because who am I to tell someone which has the best pizza?” said Scott Beck, Kin Pizza Party Chairman of past three years.

The judging panel, comprised of Kin and community members, placed Louis’ all dressed pie at the top of the list.

“The evening has been successful. Everybody seems to be having a good time with the pizzas coming, which is all it is: have a good time, enjoy some pizza,” said Beck during the event.

Attendees also had the opportunity to bid on silent and live auction items, with two VIP Bluesfest tickets to see the Backstreet Boys up for grabs. A 50/50 raffle also exceed $1,000 by the end of the night.

The annual fundraiser provided over $10,000 to community organizations this year, including Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cornwall and District, Boys and Girls Club of Cornwall/SDG, the Spec. Ops Program at Longue Sault Public School, Cornwall Community Hospital Mental Health Unit and Koala Place.

“This is just one of our fundraisers to support the community, that we decide on at the beginning of the year,” explained Beck.

“This is such a great community event where our whole club participates and makes a fun evening with pizza and laughs and ends up giving back over $10,000 to the community,” said Past Chairmen Kin Rick Shaver and Dan Carbonnell, echoing Beck’s sentiments. “This year we were busy as ever and many Kin wives helped us keep on schedule, and the staff at best Western shined again…they are great partners who also go out of their way to make the event a success. We were really happy with all the new faces in the crowd enjoying the evening. Another year…another success.”
