CORNWALL, Ontario – Environment Canada has issued a Freezing Rain Warning for Cornwall and the surrounding area for Sunday, April 7.

“Rain is expected to begin this evening. Rain may transition to freezing rain or freezing drizzle overnight and persist into Monday morning,” a Special Weather Statement from Environment Canada reads.

According to The Weather Network the freezing rain is expected to begin late Sunday night and could continue throughout the morning on Monday.

Temperatures will remain in the low single digits on Sunday and Monday but will feel like they are between minus five and zero degrees Celsius.

“A band of freezing rain will move in after midnight tonight, and will likely persist over Eastern Ontario well into Monday morning,” reads the Warning from Environment Canada. “Ice accretion amounts near 5 millimetres are quite likely in many areas. Freezing rain may be more prolonged in the Ottawa Valley Monday, as temperatures there will have difficulty in getting above the zero degree mark until Monday afternoon.”
