Tough road conditions as freezing rain continues

CORNWALL, Ontario – Drivers in Cornwall and SD&G should be careful on their commute home this afternoon.

Environment Canada has issued a Freezing Rain warning for the Cornwall area.

The freezing rain is expected to continue until 4 p.m. today, Tuesday, April 9, when it will be replaced by snow fall into the evening.

“Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery,” the Environment Canada Warning reads. “Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions.”

The ice will likely linger for a few days, as temperatures are not supposed to rise above zero until Thursday afternoon according to The Weather Network.
