CORNWALL, Ontario – The Agora Catholic Centre saw about a hundred attendees during the Catholic Faith Fair on Saturday, April 13 between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
According to Kim Walsh, Director of the Family Resource Centre, the Fair had returned after a six year break.
“We got a new Auxiliary Bishop (Guy Desroucher) at the end of February, so this is a good opportunity for people to come meet him, because a lot haven’t met him yet…it gives people the opportunity to talk to him for longer than they might have otherwise,” said Walsh, who noted that Desroucher hadn’t stopped greeting and chatting with attendees since the event started.
For no charge, families could enjoy free snacks and refreshments, conversations about faith and information packages about local faith organizations.
“There’s a good opportunity for people to see what is available (in the faith community)…for people to see the booths and show off what they do,” said Walsh.
Different local and international organization, most faith-based, were in attendance, including the Knights of Columbus of St. Andrew’s, Development and Peace, Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN) and the Alpha program of the Diocese of Cornwall-Alexandria.
“Several families came out and had fun at the craft table…and the (children’s mock) bowling alley there,” said Walsh, as many children tried their hand at creating religious artworks and playing on a plush bowling matt.
Walsh was happy to see the excitement of attendees and glad to see community members be acquainted with Bishop Guy Desroucher.
