Cornwall Transit announces new tickets, app
Cornwall Transit.

CORNWALL, Ontario – Changes to our local transit system will soon reflect recommendations made in the Transit Master Plan, including implementing a real-time tracking app, reducing fare mediums and being compliant with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.

“Cornwall Transit is confident that these changes will improve riders’ experience,” said Len Tapp, City Transit Division Manager. “We’re excited to launch the Way to Go app later this spring. Transit riders have asked for this service, and we’re pleased to deliver it.”

The Way to Go app, which will soon be available on Cornwall Transit’s website and for smart phone download, will display busses through an AVL (Automatic Vehicle Locator). Anyone who is interested in being informed about the app as soon as it becomes available is asked to email emma.meldrum@cornwall.ca for a notification.

Additionally, as of May 1, bus passes and tickets will become standardized, and the same ticket can be used for the community bus route, regular bus route as well as Handi-Transit route. Previously purchased Handi-Transit tickets will not expire and can be used on other transit services.

On May 1, the following prices will come into effect:

– (Regular) cash fare: $3
– Adult monthly pass: $65
– Adult 10-ride card: $25
– Senior monthly pass: $46
– Senior 10-ride card: $23
– Student monthly pass: $53
– Student 10-ride card: $23
– Children 5 and under: free
– Community pass: $46
– Family day pass: $7.75
