UNITED COUNTIES of SD&G, Ontario – In a post on social media on Monday, April 22, the SD&G Library announced that due to cuts to the provincial budget, it would no longer be able to participate in the Inter-Library Loan Service.
“Sad news! Due to Provincial funding cuts, Ontario’s Interlibrary Loan service has been cancelled. Effective immediately, the SDG Library will no longer be able to accept ILLO requests. All requests currently in process are also cancelled,” the social media post reads.
The cancellation of the program, means that library users will no longer be able to request books, films and other materials from other libraries in Ontario.
In the Ford Government’s first budget that was presented on April 11, they announced a 50 percent cut to library services in Ontario.
