CORNWALL, Ontario – Pitt St. from Tollgate Rd. to Cornwall Centre Rd. will be closed this weekend to facilitate the demolition of the Eastbound Hwy. 401 bridge.

That section of Pitt St. will be closed as of 7 p.m. on Friday, April 26 and will re-open at 7 p.m. on Sunday, April 28. Businesses along that section of street will still be accessible during this time.

The bridge demolition and replacement is a Ministry of Transportation Project that was contracted to R.W. Tomlinson Ltd. who resumed work on the project on April 1 and anticipate completion by November.

“R.W. Tomlinson anticipates that Pitt Street between Tollgate and South Branch (sic) roads will be closed for a total of 15 days between April and November as necessary. The public will be notified via signage in place in advance of the planned closures,” reads a statement on the City of Cornwall website.
