CORNWALL, Ontario – On Saturday, Aug. 10, Waterfest returns to Cornwall. Organizers of the annual dragonboat races say that they hope for another fun, successful event on Cornwall’s waterfront.
“We are trying to repeat the great success we had last year,” said Lea Emard, one of the event’s organizers. “Last year, we had 21 teams from Cornwall, SD&G and some from as far away as Ottawa and Peterborough.”
So far Emard says there are 15 to 18 teams that have registered so far. To register for the event, go to www.cornwallwaterfest.com
Those who have never been out on the water in a dragonboat are welcome to participate too, and the Cornwall Waterfest organizing committee is offering practice and on the water training. Emard says that four new participants have been trained so far this year.
“We think this is a very unique opportunity for people to experience the water and the waterfront in a way that they haven’t before,” she said.
