UNITED COUNTIES of SD&G, Ontario – The municipalities of Cornwall, South Glengarry, and South Stormont were busy with Canada Day celebration festivities on a warm and sunny July 1.

Our reporter, Shawna O’Neill was out in Charlottenburgh Park, Glen Walter, Lamoureux Park and the Lost Villages in South Stormont for Canada Day and got the wonderful photos seen in this story, and on the slideshow below.

Glen Walter Park had some wonderful bouncy castle rides for the kids, while over in Charlottenburgh Park families

Out in South Stormont, there were wonderful Canada Day celebrations organized in Arnold Bethune Park, in Long Sault, and in the Lost Villages just outside of Cornwall.

and featured live local music, including the Ugly Funklings, Capital Beatles and more. On Canada Day Monday in the Park there was a Home Depot Workshop, a dunk tank and Human Foosball.

Across the United Counties of SD&G and in Cornwall there were fireworks. Most place started their fireworks by 10 p.m. Those in Cornwall were delayed by an hour due to circumstances beyond the control of the organizers. Strong currents and winds made it difficult to get the barge carrying the fireworks into place.

All events were selflessly organized by volunteers.
