Driver in fatal North Stormont collision identified

NORTH STORMONT, Ontario – On June 26, 2019, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers attended the scene of a two vehicle collision on County Rd. 43 between Fairview Rd. and County Rd. 14 in North Stormont Township.

Preliminary investigation has indicated that at approximately 8:54 a.m., a pick-up truck was travelling eastbound on County Road 43 when, for reasons under investigation, collided with a westbound tractor trailer.

The adult female driver Sharon Irvine, age 55, of North Stormont, Ontario of the eastbound pick-up truck was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The adult passenger of the eastbound pick-up truck was transported to hospital with serious life threatening injuries.

The adult driver (lone occupant) of the tractor trailer was transported to hospital with serious non-life threatening injuries.

SD&G OPP continue to investigate the collision with the assistance of the OPP Traffic Collision Investigators (TCI).
