SOUTH GLENGARRY, Ontario – Around 150 golfers teed off on July 5 at the Cornwall Golf and Country Club for the De Saulniers Scramble Fore Success Golf Tournament to support the Boys & Girls Club of Cornwall/SDG.

“This is our 11th annual tournament and we are really proud to say we filled every spot” said Jacquie Richards, Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Club of Cornwall. Golfers started their round by high-fiving members of the Boys & Girls Club of Cornwall on the way to their hole.

“One of the really great parts of this event is the money raised stays local and directly impacts people in our community,” said Richards. A large part of the money raised is going to directly to the “Teen Program” at the Boys & Girls Club; A program geared towards helping young adults gain important life skills.

This program runs nightly and provides teenagers support in homework, leadership training, cooking skills, and physical activity opportunities, according to Richards. The money put into this program is always a “great investment in our youth,” said Richards

“Many teens that go through our teen program come back as volunteers and even employees,” said Richards. “Last year over 2,500 hours were donated by our members from our Teen Program.”

The Boys & Girls Club of Cornwall is the charity sponsor of the Cornwall Triathlon on Aug. 24 and 25. Those interested in volunteering their time at this event can find more information here.
