CORNWALL & SDG, Ontario – At 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 11, Environment Canada was tracking a line of severe thunderstorms that could produce very strong wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain in the following areas:

  • Cornwall – Lancaster
  • Maxville – Alexandria
  • Morrisburg – Long Sault
  • Winchester – Newington

The long line of thunderstorms extends from North of Napanee to Hawkesbury and is moving East at 50 km/h according to Environment Canada. Strong wind gusts up to 100 km/h are reportedly possible, and this squall line also has the potential to produce isolated brief tornadoes.

Residents are advised to take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Large hail can damage property and cause injury.
