CORNWALL, Ontario – A 23-year-old Cornwall man was arrested on July 10, 2019 on the strength of a warrant for assaulting his ex-girlfriend and taking her phone. He was also charged with the following:
- Assault with a weapon x 2
- Assault
- Carry a concealed weapon x 2
- Threats x 2
- Breach of probation x 10 (for possessing a weapon, failing to reside at an approved address, failing to notify court/probation of a change of address, contacting his ex-girlfriend, being within 200 metres of his ex-girlfriend, and failing to keep the peace)
- Breach of recognizance x 2 (for contacting and being within 200 metres of his ex-girlfriend)
It is alleged on July 4, 2019, the man again assaulted his ex-girlfriend, brandishing a knife, and made threats to kill her and their child. On July 5, 2019, during an altercation with his ex-girlfriend’s father, the man assaulted him with a knife and police were contacted. On July 10, 2019, he was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant, charged accordingly, and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as it would identify the victims in the matter.
