CORNWALL, Ontario Everyone from food producers to consumers can now register to participate in a conference surrounding the celebration and support of regional food, scheduled for Nov. 13 and 14 at NAV Centre.

The purpose of the event is to “highlight the importance of diverse food business and organizations” according to a press release from the Eastern Ontario Local Food Conference (EOLFC).

The event is being organized by Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs in partnership with the City of Cornwall and the United Counties of Stormont Dundas and Glengarry.

The conference will have seminars, workshops, and showcase local food and drinks, including tours of Akwesasne, Cornwall and the Highlands, and Cornwall and the Seaway, according to the EOLFC’s website.

“The event presents a unique opportunity to explore our rich cultural history, discuss distinct collaborative strategies between regional leaders, and celebrate a flourishing local food landscape,” said Mayor Bernadette Clement in the press release.

Beyond highlighting local business and foods, the conference is also geared toward discussing the needs of individuals in the agri-food sector. This will be the conference’s 8th time meeting to discuss the “rapidly growing sector in need of a stronger network and more targeted technical support,” according to the press release.
