CORNWALL ART WALK – Experience some amazing local art and some great Downtown restaurants and shops at the same time with the Cornwall Art Walk. This monthly event will see artists display their art on easels in windows and on the walls of local businesses for one night each month. The artists will be present to paint or draw during the evening and to talk to people about their art. The event is scheduled for the fourth Friday of each month from May to August – June 28, July 26 and August 23. It runs from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Downtown Cornwall.

AUGUST 16-18 – SOUTH MOUNTAIN FAIR

Taking place from Friday, August 16 to Sunday, August 18, the South Mountain Fair also includes a lineup of popular, award winning musical acts performing each day of the fair. There will be a family fun parade, tractor pull, car and truck shows, agricultural games and exhibits and the demolition derby highlight.

AUGUST 17 – LADIES AUXILIARY VOLLEYBALL DAY

Join the Ingleside Fire Department Ladies’ Auxiliary Volleyball Fun Day at the Ingleside Community Park on Saturday, August 17. Teams must have at least six players (minimum two guys/ two girls) and all participants must be 18 years or older. Don’t miss the excitement at the annual St. Andrews West Community Fest on Saturday, August 17! Held at the St. Andrews West sports field and outdoor hockey rink from 8 a.m. – 10 p.m., the St. Andrews West Community Fest is a freewill donation event. On Saturday, August 17 Cornwall’s biggest block party returns with Cornwall Food Fest in Downtown Cornwall! The heart of the city will be taken over by food trucks and local restaurants showcasing amazing dishes throughout the day. AUGUST 17-18 – DOORS OPEN IN CORNWALL AND THE COUNTIES

Discover the amazing stories behind some of the area’s most famous sites during Doors Open Cornwall and SDG Counties! During this two-day event, participating local sites will open their doors free of charge, giving members of the public a unique chance to see familiar landmarks in a whole new way. The event runs from Saturday, August 17 to Sunday, August 18.

Classiqu’ Arts is a festival in the national historic site known as the St. Raphael’s Ruins. This event features classical music, dance and an art exhibition starring local and international artists, dancers and musicians. AUGUST 18 – LOST VILLAGES BUS TOUR

Join the Lost Villages Historical Society on Sunday, August 18 for a fully-guided tour of locations and heritage of the flooded villages. The tour guide is Lost Villages Historical Society Past President Jim Brownell. The air-conditioned bus leaves the Lost Villages Museum at 1 p.m. and returns at 5 p.m. for a barbecue. The South Stormont Summer Events Crew will be at the Lancer Centre in Ingleside from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 19 for the Teddy Bear Picnic. Is your teddy feeling sick? AUGUST 20 – SOUTH STORMONT KIDS GALA

Join the Summer Events Crew at the South Stormont Community Hall in Long Sault on Tuesday, August 20 to celebrate another great summer of exciting events throughout the Township at the South Stormont Kids’ Gala. Beginning at 5 p.m., the Gala includes light refreshments, dinner and dessert, followed by dancing and live entertainment. AUGUST 24 – WALK, RUN OR PLAY FOR CANCER

Join the community for a new event in Long Sault in support of the Canadian Cancer Society on Augusr 24 from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. The day includes a 1km track for those who want to walk or run for Cancer, there will be a volleyball tournament and a 3-pitch softball tournament, live music and beer tent throughout the day, and capped off with a great outdoor dinner and dance in the park. Entrance to the volleyball and softball tournaments are by pledge sheets which will be donated to the Canadian Cancer Society. Pledge sheets for the event are available at the Canadian Cancer Society, O’Neill’s Pub, Ingleside Senior’s Support Centre, members of the Friendly Circle Seniors Club. AUGUST 23 – 25 – CHESTERVILLE FAIR

Running from Friday, August 23 to Sunday, August 25, the beautiful August weather is a perfect backdrop for this fun-filled weekend. The Chesterville Fair has all the staples of a great country fair: The Midway the kids will love; the petting zoo with all sorts of barnyard animals; and the livestock shows. This fair, however, also has that little extra that keep the thrills coming. The demolition derby is always a crowd pleaser. It’s always a wild country party at the Chesterville Fair.

AUGUST 24 & 25 – CORNWALL TRIATHLON

Saturday, August 24 and Sunday, Aug. 25, the best race in eastern Ontario is back in the form of the Cornwall Triathlon! The Cornwall Triathlon offers a unique experience that sets it apart from other triathlons in the area. The event features traffic free courses in the city core on both event days. Saturday – Young Champions Day: Saturday events include a Duathlon of varying distances for ages 14 & under and a Triathlon of varying distances with a pool swim for ages 7-14. Sunday – Adult Events: The Sunday events include 5km run, Try-A-Tri, Sprint and Olympic Triathlon distances and a Sprint Duathlon. Registration is now underway!

AUGUST 25 – HERITAGE GARDENING AT GLENGARRY PIONEER MUSEUM

August 25 from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m., guest speaker Tammy MacGregor will lead a tour of the Glengarry Pioneer Museum Gardens showcasing heritage plants that our pioneers would have grown and appreciated.

AUGUST 24 & 25 – TRASH TO TREASURE WEEKEND

Trash to Treasure Day is an opportunity for residents to share their gently used, unwanted household items with treasure hunters. The goal is to reuse items rather than sending them to the landfill. Join your neighbours throughout the City of Cornwall to participate in Trash to Treasure Day! AUGUST 30 – SEPTEMBER 2 – STORMONT COUNTY FAIR

From Friday, August 30 to Monday, September 2, Newington is pumped full of excitement over the Labour Day weekend with the annual Stormont County Fair. The fair has always amassed a huge crowd for its exciting events like the demolition derby, the talent show, the midway, the competitive softball tournaments and the live entertainment. With so much to do, the fair is a great way to celebrate the unofficial end of summer.

AUGUST 31 – WINERY & BREWERY TOUR

On Sunday, August 31 Bike Centric presents a 30- or 60-kilometre supported bike tour featuring stops at Stone House Vineyard and Woods Brothers Brewing Company. Ride on quiet rural roads and take in the amazing scenery. Bring your wallet to purchase some of the fine products at the two stops. Ride includes: a support vehicle, a delicious lunch, four wine tastings at Stone House Vineyard, and beer tastings at Woods Brothers Brewing Company. Ride begins at 10 a.m. at Stone House Vineyard in Alexandria (free parking available).
