Heat Wave Hits Cornwall - Eastern Canada

CORNWALL & SDG, Ontario – Environment Canada has issued its fourth heat warning of the summer for our region, specifically for the following areas:

  • Cornwall – Lancaster
  • Maxville – Alexandria
  • Morrisburg – Long Sault
  • Winchester – Newington

Hot and humid conditions are expected this weekend into early next week as a slightly cooler airmass is expected to arrive on Tuesday. The daytime maximum temperatures of 31 degrees are expected along with overnight low temperatures of 20 degrees during this period of time.

Thunderstorms and showers are possible for Sunday, which may provide some further relief from the heat.

Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion…extreme heat affects everyone,” read the Environment Canada statement.

The Eastern Ontario Health Unit reminds residents of how to better handle hot and humid temperatures in an article here.
