LONG SAULT, Ontario – Signs throughout Long Sault’s streets pointed passers-by to one location on Saturday, July 27: the McGillivary family’s pig roast in support of Hospice and the Winchester District Memorial Hospital Foundation.
“This is the 15th annual pig roast and we wanted to support some local places, so we chose Hospice and the Winchester Hospital,” said Kenny McGillivary. The pig roast entertained an expected 300 guests with food and live music from a variety of local bands.
The events’ success stems from the Long Sault Community being “so closely knit”, according to McGillivary.
“We really are fortunate that people do want to get out and donate what ever they can. We’re just really happy to support these causes,” he said.
While the event was free to attend, donations were invited by the McGillivary family for the two causes.
“Having an event like this that gets the whole community out and have some food and a bit of fun, plus also benefitting some good foundations, it doesn’t get a whole lot better than that,” said McGillvary.
