INGLESIDE, Ontario – About 250 people were expected at the S. D. & G. Cornwall Shrine Club Fish Fry on Sunday, July 28 to help the Club raise money to transport sick children to and from their treatments.
“What we’re raising money for is to help transport children who require our services to the Shriners Hospital in Montreal,” said Dan Wert, the Secretary of the S. D. & G. Cornwall Shrine Club. “We really want to do what we can to help our community and give what we can.”
Transportation to and from hospitals can be a serious financial burden, which the Shrine Club look to relieve, according to Wert.
“We move the child and the parents, if they so choose, to the hospital and back to help remove one of their worries,” he said.
The Club is currently helping two children and their families from Eastern Ontario according to Wert.
“Although I can’t say a whole bunch more about them, the community has been just great in helping us support them in whatever ways we can,” said Wert.
Tickets to enter for a chance to win a cruise or cash were also being sold, with the draw held on December 10, 2019.
