CORNWALL, Ontario – The Agapè Centre are reporting that two individuals allegedly stole donations and a garbage bin from their property.

According to the Agapè Centre two individuals came to their property on Sunday, July 28 at around 3:42 p.m. and took donated items. The Centre also claims that the individuals took a garbage can full of donated items as well.

“They spent a lot of time rooting through our donated items. Then they decided that they were stealing too much to carry themselves so they stole our garbage bin to take it all home,” the Agapè Centre’s post on Facebook reads. “Due to the city’s new garbage by-laws, we had to purchase those bins from the city and they are expensive! Please help us identify those who steal from Agapè so we can get these thieves to stop and get our bin back!!”

Taking items that are donated or left on Agapè Centre property is considered theft.

The station duty officer with the Cornwall Police Service (CPS) was unable to confirm if the service had received a report of a theft.

The Agapè Centre is encouraging donors to drop off items during normal hours of operation to avoid theft or damage. The dock at the Agapè Centre is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. The dock is closed on Sunday.
