CORNWALL, Ontario – McConnell Manor held their annual Carnival Day on Thursday, Aug. 15, 2019.

There were carnival games, a dunk tank, music, classic cars from Cornwall Classic Cars and an Elvis impersonator.

The event at McConnell Manor was also raising money for Wish of a Lifetime. Wish of a Lifetime is a non-profit organization dedicated to granting lifetime wishes to seniors.

“Wishes connect seniors to people, purpose, and passions to eliminate feelings of isolation and help them live vibrant, purposeful lives,” reads a statement on their website. “A true Wish of a Lifetime achieved makes other goals seem possible, and encourages our Wish recipients to keep dreaming and pursuing their passions.”

Alison Hudson, Retirement Living Consultant at McConnell Manor said that the residents were loving the event.

“They loved it last year, so we made it even bigger and even better this year,” she said.

Hudson explained how the classic cars were helping bring back some memories for the residents.

“I overheard one couple say one of the cars was like one of the first cars they owned and it brought back fond memories,” she said.

Michel Beaudry, Activities Manager at McConnell Manor was up on the chair for the dunk tank. It was $1 a ball to take a shot and dunk Beaudry, who said he took the plunge about five times.

Hudson said that the Manor will be holding more events throughout the year to support Wish of a Lifetime.
