CORNWALL, Ontario – The St. Lawrence River Institute of Environmental Sciences organized a showcase of flora and fauna at the Saunders Hydro Dam Visitors Centre on Saturday, Aug. 17 for the Wonderful World of Wildlife event, to inform visitors of any age about the abundance of wildlife and ecosystems in the area.

The Centre was filled with different displays of plants and animal displays being presented by representatives from the Institute. Participants were also able to walk with a biologist and see for themselves the abundance of plants and animals around the Centre.

“These events are a great way for the whole family to spend time together learning about our local flora and fauna,” said River Institute’s Environmental Educator, Lexy Harquail, in a press release.

The Canadian Raptor Conservancy also displayed a live-flight show featuring a variety of birds of prey, according to a press release.

“The inflight show is always really popular and we’re excited to have them back for another year,” said Harquail.

The River Institute will also be organizing an event on September 21 which will discuss the changing seasons and how animals prepare for hibernation. For more information, visit their website here.
