NEWINGTON, Ontario – Rock climbing, midway rides, carnival games, unique local vendors, petting zoos, the demolition derby, live music, competitive softball and more are just some of the attractions that have drawn large numbers to the 2019 Stormont County Fair in Newington from Aug. 30 to Sept. 2.

Secretary-Treasurer of the Fair Barbara-Ann Glaude said that this year local competitors will face off for the first time in a new addition to the fair: provincially sanctioned Extreme Cowboy Racing.

“Attendance has been great,” said Glaude about the Fair turnout. “We’ve had a variety of interesting things and (Monday, Sept. 2) is going to be really neat when we have the Extreme Cowboy Racing.”

“Our beef show and dairy show were excellent on Saturday. Our kids have had great fun in the Kidzone…ball keeps on, we have the finals on (Monday, Sept. 2) for the modified and mens teams,” said Glaude.

Glaude thanked all volunteers and attendees of the 152-year-old Fair, saying it’s a monumental occasion in the area before school begins and fall ensues.
