CORNWALL, Ontario – The 24th Renegade Bass Tour crowned new champions on Sunday, Sept. 8.

“This is the best fishing in the world here in Cornwall as far as I’m concerned,” said tournament MC Stefan Wenek.

The two day tournament launched from Cornwall’s Marina 200 the day before, with 40 teams participating.

On the second day, two Cornwallites brought home big catches with Scott Lecky bagging around 22 lbs worth of bass, and Ryan Flaro bringing in 20.15 lbs.

Johnny Fidaoui and Aaron Powell were awarded as the Renegade Bass Tours 2019 Rookies of the Year, with Ashley Pilgrim and Josh Luloff winning Team of the Year.

The team that came in first and won the $85,000 boat and the trophy were the team of Scott Lefevbre and Mario Formica of Stittsville and Richmond respectively.

Lefevbre and Formica fished exclusively in the deep water and it clearly paid off. On Saturday they brought in 23.84 lbs of bass and 25.06 lbs the second day.

Lefevbre and Formica said that until their bag was weighed, they thought for sure they were going to come up short.

“We are really bad judges of our weight and didn’t think we were that close,” said Lefevbre.

All caught fish were well taken care of and returned to the St. Lawrence River.
