SD&G, Ontario – The Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is advising members of the public to be careful while attending local gas stations or assisting stranded motorist as fraudsters are attempting to sell fake jewellery in exchange for gas money.

On Sept. 9, 2019 SD&G OPP responded to a report of Fraud on Headline Rd. in South Stormont Twp. The victim assisted a motorist by exchanging cash for jewellery, the items proved to be fake.

The suspects will try to pressure you into purchasing their products or provide a story of financial heartache. Be extremely cautious!

Fraud…. Recognize it! Reject it! Report it!

Tips to protect yourself:

•Never make a deal outside a business.

•Trust your instincts. If it’s too good to be true, it probably is!

•Do not provide your personal information
