CORNWALL, Ontario – Zumba with Christal is 12-years-old and growing strong, and to thank the community for their support, Christal Bowen, owner and operator of Zumba with Christal, will be holding a Havana Night event as a part of a special extended class on Monday, Sept. 30 at the Agora Centre starting at 6:30 p.m.

The gym in which they workout will be decorated with tiki torches, and the participants will have a chance to work with Cuban fans. The Cuban fans will also have a special inscription and will read “Thank you for being my biggest fan.”

There will also be choreographed dances and special costumes and music playlist which were created with the help of Christal’s wife Val Bowen.

Bowen said that a typical class usually has between 80 to 150 participants. She said that it was her students who have kept her going these past 12 years.

“I keep doing this because of the people,” she said. “They have a non-stop dedication that keeps me motivated to keep going.”

Going into her 12th year, Bowen is introducing a new pound class with Rip Stix, which are a type of weighted drumstick.

“People are going to hear us before they see us,” said Christal Bowen. “We have a wait list every week. The hype is real.”

Those interested in participating in the class can sign up through the Zumba with Christal Facebook page.
