CORNWALL, Ontario – On Sept. 17, the Rotary Club of Cornwall Sunrise sent a container full of medical supplies to Ghana.
In about three hours, Rotary Club President Peter Labelle and several members loaded up the container which was then shipped to Montreal, and from Montreal, to Ghana.
For the past year, the Rotary Club has been collecting medical supplies and school resources to deliver to Ghana. This fall, Labelle will meet the container in Ghana for the Club’s eighth annual visit to the country. The medical supplies will be used to help eradicate local tropical diseases such as Buruli Ulcer, Yaws, Leprosy and more.
“The Rotary Club of Cornwall Sunrise cannot adequately thank the medical community, Cornwall Community Hospital, Glen Stor Dun Lodge, Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario, The Salvation Army Cornwall, Dr. Christine Suess, Dubuc Eye Care Centre and individuals for their incredible generosity in helping to fill this container,” reads a statement from the Rotary Club. “None of this would be possible without the help of Minimax Express Transportation, for providing the storage space required to store these items over the course of this year and into the future.”
The Rotary Club will continue to provide support and collect medical supplies to help fight disease in West Africa.
