CORNWALL, Ontario – The Cornwall Comedy Fest returns for its sixth year this October.

The festival gets an early start this year with a show by the renowned Greg Morton on Friday, Oct. 4 at Aultsville Theatre at 8 p.m.

Morton originally is from Woodstock, ON, but has grown his career by performing across Canada, the United States, Australia and the UK.

The laughs will pick up in earnest on Oct. 17 with the gala evening taking place at the Nav Centre.

The show that evening will feature Jacy Lafontaine and Viveth Kanagaratnam and Cornwall’s own Questionable Comedians.

The festival returns to Aultsville the following evening and then will be hosting their Pub Night on Oct. 19 with two shows at the Nav Centre lower lounge.

Cornwall Comedy Fest wraps up on Oct. 20 with CBC’s The Debaters at Aultsville Theatre.

Comedy Fest organizer Shawn Fowler said that this will be the most ambitious year yet.

“The community is really taking notice this year,” Fowler said. “We are really starting to stick in people’s heads.”

Fowler explained that as of last week, the gala evening at the Nav Centre on the 17th is already half sold-out.

Janet Martel, General Manager of Aultsville Theatre said that it was rewarding to host part of the festival and see it grow over the years.

“Watching it grow over the years and watching Shawn’s blood, sweat and tears go into it has been phenomenal,” she said.
