Downtown Cornwall is the place to be on Wednesday, Nov. 6th as dozens of merchants will be joining forces to showcase their newest collections and introduce shoppers to current trends.

It’s time to Shop the Blocks, and this year marks the seventh consecutive year for the event.

“Our downtown merchants, restaurants and businesses often circle their calendars at this time of year to prepare for this event,” said Centretown Coordinator Todd Lihou. “This is the perfect time of year to showcase new fashion trends and product lines, introduce new menu items and get people thinking about their holiday shopping.”

Shoppers will be able to take advantage of a variety of unique experiences that also include incentives, giveaways, prize draws and product demonstrations.

As a special bonus this year a pair of Ottawa Senators tickets are being given away too. Shoppers who spend money at any of the participating businesses will receive one of 500 numbered hockey cards. A draw will take place Nov. 7, and if your numbered card is selected you win the tickets to see the Sens host the Philadelphia Flyers on Nov. 15. You’ll also receive a parking pass.

There are only 500 cards available, so shoppers are advised to get downtown early to make sure your purchase also includes a card.

“We want to give back to our shoppers who make downtown Cornwall the vibrant business district it is,” said Lihou.

It will be a party atmosphere downtown, as a DJ – complete with spotlights, lasers, and some popular funky music – will be turning up the volume at Pommier Square, located at the Pitt and Second Street intersection.

New businesses are coming online all the time to take part in Shop the Blocks, so check out the Facebook event page for updates.
