CORNWALL, Ontario – It’s that time of year again, when your favourite fall fundraisers return for another year of fun and giving back to the community. For its seventh year in a row, Crafting a Cure is inviting you to pour up a glass for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) on Friday, Nov. 1 at the Nav Centre.

“I’m looking forward to this year and hope it will be even bigger and better,” said Bill Makinson, Chairperson of the event.

Makinson will be chairing the event for the second year in a row, taking over from original founders Jeff and Cherie Lalonde, who have children that live with type one diabetes.

“It was important for me to take on this role because JDRF and juvenile diabetes is not talked about too much in this community, so the awareness is important,” said Makinson.

Last year’s fundraiser raised $25,000 for the organization. More than 300,000 Canadians live with type one diabetes. The autoimmune disease currently has no cure and can lower the life expectancy of those that it affects by approx. 16 years. A representative from the foundation will be in attendance at the event to answer any questions.
