CORNWALL, Ontario – The Eastern Ontario Health Unit (EOHU) is urging the public to get vaccinated against the flu.

“The flu shot is the best protection against the flu and is available at various locations throughout the five Eastern Counties and Cornwall, including through your healthcare provider, community health centres, participating pharmacies and at the Eastern Ontario Health Unit (EOHU),” reads a statement from the EOHU.

The flu shot is available at all EOHU offices and appointments to receive the shot can be made over the phone at Call 613-933-1375 or 1 800-267-7120. The flu shot is available to everyone, but priority will be given to the elderly, the very young, or those with medical needs. The EOHU asks that residents who go to get the flu shot at their office bring a piece of identification.

“You need to get immunized every year to be protected because the viruses that cause the flu do change frequently,” said Dr. Paul Roumeliotis, Medical Officer of Health. “The flu can cause serious illness and even death for some people. The vaccine is safe and your best protection against the flu. It’s free and available for everyone aged six months and older.”
