CORNWALL, Ontario – For some of the best Christmas shopping in Cornwall, check out the Care Centre on Second Street, at the former Hospital campus. Different Abilities, a local non-profit that works with people with unique learning or development needs. They’ll be hosting a Christmas Craft Sale from now until the middle of December.

On Saturday, Nov. 15, 2019, the community was invited to the Care Centre to greet the crafters and check out the wares.

“We’re having a Christmas sale today for everybody…we make Christmas crafts, we make bird houses, we make everything here,” said Amanda Ashby, who helped make some of the crafts and was on hand to greet customers on Saturday.

A variety of Christmas themed gift ideas, baked goods, candies, and other items can be found at the temporary shop location, open from 1:30 p.m. until 4 p.m. from Tuesday to Friday.

Everything is handcrafted or homemade. If you’re looking for a unique, one-of-a-kind gift for your loved ones this holiday season, the Different Abilities Craft Sale probably has what you’re looking for.

Different Abilities aims to work with people to help them play to their strengths. They run an ongoing workshop to help promote entrepreneurial and business skills for people who have unique learning or development needs. Anyone from the community is invited to head to the Care Centre and help make crafts or pick up something to put under your tree at home.

“We want everybody to come and see what we have, and we have two shops. Ones a thrift shop and one is a gift shop,” said Ashby.
