CORNWALL, Ontario – Since 1989, the annual Lights of Hope fundraising campaign has supported the work and residence at the St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre.

That tradition continues this year, and the Centre celebrated this year’s campaign with a tree lighting ceremony on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2019.

Gizanne Lafrance-Allaire, Executive Director of the Centre explained that the funding would be used to help implement new dementia care strategies to better support their residents at Quinn House.

“As we continue this journey, we have many to thank, including our beloved foundation,” she said.

The Religious Hospitallers of St. Joseph Health Centre of Cornwall Fund runs the Lights of Hope campaign every year and manages the money that supports St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre’s 150 long-term care beds and 58 rehabilitation beds.

At the event, residents and guests were treated to Christmas carols from the Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary School choir.

Medical Arts Pharmacy helped to support the Centre at the event by contributing $5,000 to Lights of Hope.

Linda Wilson, Master of Ceremonies for the event and President of The Religious Hospitallers of St. Joseph Health Centre of Cornwall Fund announced that so far in 2019, the Lights of Hope campaign had collected $15,500 for St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre.

To cap off the ceremony, St. Joseph’s resident Jeanette Tyo and her family were invited to light the Centre’s Christmas trees located in the chapel.
