CORNWALL, Ontario – There is strong community support for the Agapè Centre this holiday season. Baxtrom’s Your Independent Grocer is offering to donate bags of food to the food bank on behalf of their customers.
“Being in the food business, I want to talk to you about something close to our hearts, hunger,” said John Baxtrom in a video advertising the bags. “The reality is that there are people right here in our community that suffer from hunger every single day, which is why we partnered up with the Agapè Centre and we’ve created these donation bags which are available right here in our store. Easy, simple to do. We created the bags for you. They’re all available in different denominations, $5, $10, $25, and these are all available for pick up here. All you have to do is swing by our store, pick up a bag, and we’ll be able to take care of all of the delivery for you. Quick, simple, and easy.”
The need at the Agapè Centre is always great, and they work hard to ensure that their clients have food over the holiday season.
“On behalf of the Centre I’d like to thank Baxtrom’s for this wonderful food drive that they’re doing for us,” said Lisa Duprau, Executive Director of the Agapè Centre. “We rely tremendously on the support of our community and the partnerships we have. We currently support 165 people daily in the soup kitchen and we support 1,200 people a month through our food bank.”
So far, Baxtrom’s have donated over 3,500lbs of food since the campaign began.
“I’d just like to say thank you to everybody in the community. There’s no way we could do this without you and the support for the Agape Centre has been overwhelming,” Baxtrom said.
Baxtrom’s also offers food bags for dogs and cats which they donate to the OSPCA.
