CORNWALL, Ontario – As many individuals set foot into the Cornwall Square to shop local for the holidays, they may have noticed some final sale items flying off the shelves as two more stores are set to leave before the end of 2019.

Both Bentley and Garage Clothing Co. have announced they won’t be returning to the mall in the New Year.

“Bentley has filed for bankruptcy across North America and as for Garage their lease ends at the end of the year and it’s their choice if they want to renew or not,” said Melissa Boyer, Executive Director of Groupe Quint.

The Cornwall Square also lost Suzy Shier and Payless Shoes during 2019. With the closing of a few stores, members of the public have questioned if the mall plans to remain open.

“I assure you that Cornwall Square is far from closing!” said Boyer. “We are redeveloping the shopping center and will be doing a façade renovation. It’s a great mall with a variety of tenants that are doing well since the population is always there to promote local shopping…Rossy is preparing to take a huge space at Cornwall Square.”

Rossy is a Canadian regional chain of variety stores with locations in Quebec and the Maritime provinces.

When asked about rent prices for stores at the mall, Boyer assured this was confidential information but the company is charging tenants according to typical market rates.
