ST. REGIS – The Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance with an investigation into an incident that occurred in the early morning hours of Friday, Dec. 20 in the village of Kana:takon (St. Regis).

At approx. 1 a.m. AMPS observed a dark coloured Chrysler 300 travelling towards the intersection of First St. and Angus Thomas Memorial St.. Police were conducting general patrol duties when an officer noticed a firearm protruding from the subject vehicle in the direction of the marked police vehicle.

A number of shots were discharged from the firearm and the Chrysler 300 fled immediately into the southern jurisdiction of Akwesasne. The Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Police were contacted and will be assisting in this investigation.

The Akwesasne Mohawk Police are offering a monetary reward for any information that can lead to the arrest and subsequent conviction of the suspects responsible for endangering the lives of our community members.
