Cornwall man charged with shoplifting

CORNWALL, Ontario – Jeffrey Burles, 35, of Cornwall was arrested on Dec. 21, 2019 and charged with theft under $5000 and breach of probation for failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on Dec. 21, 2019, the man attended a Brookdale Ave. business and removed merchandise, making no attempt to pay for the items as he left the store. He was stopped by a Loss Prevention Officer and police were contacted. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on Jan. 23, 2020.

BREACH

CORNWALL, Ontario – Paul Poirier, 48, of Cornwall was arrested on Dec. 20, 2019 and charged with three counts of breach of recognizance for contacting a certain person, being within 100 metres of the person, as well as failing to keep the peace. It is alleged on Dec. 13, 2019, the man spoke to someone he has conditions of no contact with while at the Cornwall Square. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On Dec. 20, 2019, he attended police headquarters to deal with the matter. He was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on Jan. 21, 2020.

ASSAULT

CORNWALL, Ontario – Thomas Cholette, 43, of Cornwall was arrested on Dec. 20, 2019 and charged with assault. It is alleged he assaulted a man known to him during an altercation on Dec. 20, 2019. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on Jan. 21, 2020.

BREACH

CORNWALL, Ontario – John Breyer, 33, of Cornwall was arrested on Dec. 20, 2019 and charged with breach of undertaking for being outside of his residence with alcohol in his body. It is alleged on Dec. 20, the man was observed outside of his residence with alcohol in his body and an investigation ensued. During the investigation, he was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

WARRANT

CORNWALL, Ontario – Travis Cook, 37, of Cornwall was arrested on Dec. 21, 2019 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the man breached his probation and a warrant was issued for his arrest. On Dec. 21, 2019, he was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant and released to appear in court on Jan. 23, 2020.
