CORNWALL, Ontario – Environment Canada and The Weather Network are forecasting a cold and snowy weekend for Cornwall and the surrounding area.

Starting on Friday, Jan. 17, temperatures are expected to be in the negative teens throughout the day, dropping into the minus 20s over night with the windchill. Temperatures will feel the same throughout Saturday, Jan. 18.

Along with the frigid Saturday temperatures, snow is also expected.

“An approaching low pressure system will bring snowfall to Northeastern and Eastern Ontario starting Saturday morning. Total snowfall amounts of 15 to 25 cm are expected. Strong winds gusting up to 50 km/h will create areas of local blowing snow on Saturday afternoon. The snow will ease to light flurries Sunday morning,” states Environment Canada.

According to The Weather Network snow is forecasted to begin falling around noon on Saturday and will continue until Sunday night.
