Tourism fund gives out $140K in first six months

CORNWALL, Ontario – Six months after accepting applications, the Tourism Development Corporation of Cornwall (TDCC) is reporting that it has supported nearly 20 programs and events, while distributing over $140,000.

The TDCC has also appointed a new Board Chair. Etienne Saint-Aubin has been selected as the new chair, taking over from Tim Mills, who took a new position as CAO of South Glengarry.

““In order to ensure the Board continues to provide funding in the most effective manner, we will take a short pause
from accepting applications for the month of April” said Saint-Aubin.

Saint-Aubin explained that the TDCC will be reviewing their application process as well as the criteria of the fund.

“Our purpose is to make sure that the whole process is as clear and as effective as possible” he said.

Applications will be received up until March 30 under the current rules and criteria, with a new batch, under the new rules, being accepted starting May 1.

All changes to the application process will be posted on the TDCC website.

“We don’t anticipate any major changes to the terms, and the fund will always exist to support the local tourism
industry” continues Saint-Aubin. “The analysis process is simply to put terms in place that will better serve
applicants, and ensure the review process is as transparent as possible.”
