Teen arrested for bicycle theft

Cornwall, ON – Robert Avery, 21, of Cornwall was arrested on September 29th, 2020 and charged with the following:

  • Theft over $5000
  • Obstruct police
  • Possession of break-in instruments
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Breach of release order (for possessing weapons)
  • Breach of probation x  6 (for failing to keep the peace, possessing a weapon, and possessing a knife away from residence)

It is alleged on September 18th, 2020, the man took a bicycle that did not belong to him and police were contacted to investigate. On September 29th, 2020, while investigating an unrelated matter, police located the man, who provided a false name to police. He was taken into custody, at which time he was found to be in possession of break-in instruments and bear mace. The man was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

UNLAWFULLY IN A DWELLING, CONSPIRACY TO COMMIT INDICTABLE OFFENCE, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – Melanie Lalonde, 33, of Cornwall was arrested on September 28th, 2020 and charged with being unlawfully in a dwelling and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence. She was also charged with breach of release order for failing to remain in her residence. It is alleged on May 22nd, 2020, the woman unlawfully entered the residence of someone known to her and conspired to commit an assault on another person. It is further alleged on September 20th, the woman left her residence, despite the conditions of her release order.  On September 28th, 2020, the woman was taken into custody, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

WARRANT

Cornwall, ON – Denise Portieous-Jodoin, 27, of Cornwall was arrested on September 28th, 2020 on the strength of a warrant. It is alleged the woman failed to attend court on March 10th, 2020 for a theft offence and a warrant was issued for her arrest. On September 28th, 2020, she was taken into custody during a traffic stop. The warrant was executed and the woman was held in custody to await a bail hearing.

BREACH

Cornwall, ON – A 32-year-old Cornwall woman was arrested on September 29th, 2020 and charged with breach of probation for failing to keep the peace and breach of undertaking for contacting her father. It is alleged on August 26th, 2020, the woman contacted her father, despite the conditions of her undertaking. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On September 29th, 2020, she was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on December 15th, 2020. Her name was not released as it would identify the victim in the matter.

FRAUD UNDER $5000, POSSESSION OF A CREDIT CARD, DRAWING DOCUMENT WITHOUT AUTHORITY X 2

 Cornwall, ON – Douglas Primeau, 67, of Apple Hill was arrested on September 29th, 2020 and charged with fraud under $5000, possession of a credit card, and two counts of drawing a document without authority. It is alleged between November 2019 and March 2020, the man defrauded a woman known to him of a quantity of money by using the woman’s bank card without her permission, as well as using a banking document to access the women’s financial accounts. On September 29th, 2020, the man was taken into custody, charged accordingly and released to appear in court on December 15th, 2020.
