Over 1,900 cannabis plants seized in South Dundas

SOUTH DUNDAS, Ontario – On July 13, 2021 officers from the Stormont Dundas and Glengarry Detachment Ontario Provincial Police, Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), Provincial Asset Forfeiture Unit (PAFU), Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team (PJFCET) and Emergency Response Team (ERT) executed a search warrant at a rural property on Glen Stewart Road in the Town of Brinston, South Dundas.

Over 1,900 cannabis plants were seized totaling an estimated value of approximately $1.9 million dollars.

As a result of this investigation Longxing CHEN, age 65 of Georgetown and Xinqiang CHEN, age 43 also of Georgetown, are each charged with the following offence under the Cannabis Act (CA):

·      Cultivate, propagate or harvest a cannabis plant that is from seed or plant material that is illicit cannabis – section 12(4)(a)

All accused persons were released from police custody and are scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on September 9, 2021.
