Prevost facing new charge after second arrest

SOUTH GLENGARRY, Ontario – South Glengarry Mayor Frank Prevost is facing a new charge for breaching his release order after he was arrested on Monday, July 12 for allegedly attending a public park.

Prevost was first arrested on June 8 and charged with  three counts of of luring a child, contrary to section 172.1(1)(b) of the Criminal Code and one count of sexual assault against and adult contrary to section 271 of the Criminal Code.

Seaway News learned of this new charge after inquiring with an OPP spokesperson who confirmed that Prevost was released again on July 13.

As a part of his release order Prevost was instructed not to attend any public parks and more specifically Charlottenburgh Park, which is a private park.

Prevost is on a six-month leave of absence from the Township of South Glengarry which he obtained through his own request. After being granted his leave he was removed as Warden of the United Counties of SD&G.
