Severe Thunderstorm Watch issued for July 25

CORNWALL, Ontario – Environment Canada has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for the Cornwall area on Sunday, July 25, 2021.

“Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts and large hail,” reads a statement from Environment Canada. “Thunderstorms over Quebec are expected to intensify as they move southeastward towards extreme eastern Ontario. Quarter size hail and wind gusts to 90 km/h are possible. The severe weather threat should end after 9 PM EDT.”

According to The Weather Network thunderstorms are possible in Cornwall at 9 p.m. on Sunday night and could continue until after 10 p.m. There is a 40 per cent chance of precipitation.

Temperatures on Sunday night will go down to a low of 17 degrees Celsius. On Monday temperatures will reach a high of 28 degrees, but it will feel closer to 34 with the humidity.
