Woman charged with forging 22 cheques

These charges have yet to be proven in court.

Cornwall, ON – Kristen Levac, 32, of Cornwall was arrested on August 3rd, 2021 on the strength of multiple warrants for failing to attend court and failing to attend for fingerprints. She was also charged with the following:

·         Utter forged document x 22

·         Fraud under $5000 x 22

·         Flight from police

·         Possession of a Schedule I substance (heroin)

·         Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (heroin)

It is alleged in June and July, the woman failed to attend police headquarters for fingerprints and failed to attend court for a break and enter offence. Police were contacted and warrants were issued for her arrest. It is further alleged between February and March the woman forged 22 fraudulent cheques and an investigation ensued. On August 3rd, 2021, the woman failed to stop operating a motor vehicle while being pursued by police. She was later located by police and taken into custody, at which time she was found to be in possession of a quantity of heroin. She was charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

WARRANTS, POSSESSION OF PROPERTY OBTAINED BY CRIME

Cornwall, ON – Matthew Comtois, 36, of Cornwall was arrested on August 3rd, 2021 on the strength of multiple warrants. He was also charged with possession of property obtained by crime. It is alleged on May 6 and May 18, the man failed to attend court, as well as failed to attend for fingerprints on March 19th, 2021. Police were contacted and warrants were issued for his arrest. On August 3rd, 2021, police located the man who was in possession of a stolen kayak. He was taken into custody on the strength of the warrants, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing.

TWO YOUTHS ARRESTED FOLLOWING DANGEROUS OPERATION OF ALL TERRAIN VEHICLES IN LOCAL PARK

Cornwall, ON – A 16-year-old Moose Creek youth and a 17-year-old Cornwall youth have been arrested and charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and mischief. It is alleged on July 25th, 2021, the youths were both operating an all terrain vehicle in a dangerous manner in the area of the Riverdale Park, causing damages throughout the park. Police were contacted and an investigation ensued. On July 28th, 2021, the 16-year-old youth attended police headquarters to deal with the matter, at which time he was taken into custody and charged accordingly. The 17-year-old youth was taken into custody on August 3rd, 2021 and charged accordingly. Both youths were released to appear in court at a later date. Their names were not released as per provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

TAKE MOTOR VEHICLE WITHOUT CONSENT, BREACH

Cornwall, ON – An 18-year-old Cornwall youth was arrested on August 4th, 2021 and charged with take motor vehicle without consent and breach of youth probation order for failing to keep the peace. He was also charged with breach of release order for failing to abide by his curfew. It is alleged during the early morning hours on August 4th, 2021, the man took a motor vehicle from someone known to him without their consent. He was taken into custody during a traffic stop, charged accordingly and held for a bail hearing. His name was not released as the conditions stem from when the man was a youth and is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
