OPP seize 29 long guns from South Stormont home

WARRANT RESULTS IN NUMEROUS WEAPON RELATED CHARGES

29 Long Guns Seized

(SOUTH STORMONT, ON) – On November 19, 2021 Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) SD&G Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU),Tactical Rescue Unit(TRU), Canine Unit (K9), Emergency Response Team (ERT), Crisis Negotiators and SD&G OPP Members, with the assistance of Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and RCMP, executed a search warrant at an address on Post Road in South Stormont Township. Two people were arrested at the location. Police seized a hand gun, ammunition, stun gun, bear spray, crossbows and 29 long gun firearms.

Police arrested and charged one person with the following Criminal Code (CC) offences:

Drake CARTIER, a 31 year old from South Stormont.

Possession of weapon or ammunition for dangerous purpose – CC Section 88 – three counts

Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition CC Section 92(2) – two counts

Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm Section 91(1) – two counts

Unauthorized possession of a weapon CC Section 91(2)

Careless storage of a firearm – CC Section 86(1) – five counts

Breach of firearms regulation – store firearm or restricted weapon – CC Section 86(2) -three counts

Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm – CC Section 92(1)

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.

A second person, Magen ARCHAMBAULT, age 35, of Cornwall, was arrested and charged with Failing to comply with an Undertaking. This accused was released and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall on a later date.
